Hey! Why not leave us a nice review on iTunes if you like the show?
Up next week? Species IV: The Awakening.
Hey, great episode, guys. keep it up.
Word of advice to other listeners, watch the movie first. It makes the podcast so much entertaining.
Great stuff guys. Sounded a train wreck of a movie. I was surprised you didn’t comment on the “Signs” point – why try to harvest a planet for trees that is 2/3 water!
I realize there were so many faults with this movie that it was easy to overlook many of them but the thing that chapped my ass the most was how they never taught any of the actors how to actually use a bow and arrow. I don’t know how many high schools have archery as a tenet of gym class but mine did and every time someone shot an arrow it looked like the first time a cheerleader picked up a bow. They just used the tip of their thumb and forefinger and if the camera panned back a few more feet we would see that the arrows landed back on terra firma some two feet in front of each archer. What a cinematic abortion that was.
Can’t wait for next week – keep up the good work, gentlemen.
Lucy Lawless (sp?) exposed a boob back in 97 when she sang the national anthem at a Red Wings/Ducks NHL playoff game.
Fun review, but I get the feeling you missed the point – this movie was a parody. Not unintentionally funny, so-bad-its-good, but actually intended to be funny. So most of the stuff you bagged on, the bad acting, the osteopath stuff, nonsensical plot was meant to be there.
I could tell you understood this on some level, but kept treating it like a bad, serious movie.
Of course, you might not have thought it was funny, or maybe it didn’t merge the bad with the funny properly. Can’t really argue about that…
No mention that it was filmed in Bulgaria with a Bulgarian crew and Bulgarian cast (excluding the stars). Yeah, hard to believe how horrible it all was.
Mention was made of Bruce Campbell’s Man with the Screaming Brain, filmed shortly after Alien Apocalypse. Bruce wrote and directed it, also filmed in Bulgaria.
Finally watched the movie. The fact it was filmed in Bulgaria helps me get over the terrible ADR. Did anyone else think that when (spoilers!) the president shows up at the end to fight he seems to be yelling “Ray Charles!”? Maybe it was just me.
