This was an awesome 80′s movie! Scared the hell out of me when I first saw it!

  2. KagatoAMV says:

I enjoyed the episode, although I thought everyone focused a bit to much on what a “psychic” is supposed to be able to do. I’m not sure why you guys decided a psychic can’t predict the future? Or has to be able to read minds? The impression I got from the movie is they needed the whole Dreamscape equipment to contact another mind, even in a dream. I just thought that was a little odd.

    Overall another great episode.

  3. NeedleDeath says:

wow with all the 84 talk. I went back to look at some of my olf fave, to find out The Neverending Story came out in 84. Saddly I think the move dose not fit the badish movie format. But the dude’s video that same the man theme dose sheck it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=–ZTrKPFwJc&NR=1 (no its not a rick roll)

  4. JohnInk says:

I can’t believe you guys didn’t mention the random Asian guy in the “Wife Cheating” Dream. Maybe I was the only one who that that was hysterical. It should at least give you a point for Asian stereotypes, maybe. Though, I guess he didn’t do anything stereotypical.

    “You, too, Fatooga?”

  5. Biff says:

I think this was one of the better movies on the Film Sack list. Sure the special effects are dated, but really nothing wrong with the movie as a whole.

    Also, boobies!

  6. Robinson Mason says:

Great podcast – not sure how I missed this one! I’ve long had this movie title confused with the 1983 movie Brainstorm — a very different and strange movie in its own right.

BTW, I’d LOVE it if you guys would review Ice Pirates. I think it would be right up your alley! And it hits at least a few of your “musts” list items…

    Later,
    -Robinson

  7. Linkage says:

If you guys are thinking about making an audio commentary to a movie, may I suggest submitting it to iRiffs?

  8. Biff says:

I should mention that I saw the version of the movie that DID have boobies.
And I added to the boobie collage. One of these days I’ll share it…when it is magnificent.

  9. Kenny says:

Loved the episode and I’m starting to agree with Scott that these movies I remembered from my youth in the 80s are not as good as I thought. This was one of them that I hoped would’ve aged as well as I had remembered it.

I love the sound clip, “Boobies” and it should get posted at least 3 times a show. On a side note, if anyone has a link to a site that shows the missing Kate Capshaw scene, I would love to have it.

The movie I think you guys should review is Blue Steel.

    Keep up the excellent work.

  10. Dan says:

Damn you all, you got to this podcast concept before us! And do it better.

Just listened to Krull and have subscribed. Looking forward to listening to the back catalog.

  11. Biff says:

    @Kenny
Believe it or not, there is a DvD of this.
What’s harder to believe is that I have the DvD…thus I can capture a video clip if you want, just shoot me an email and I can send you the clip:
    fantum0@yahoo.com

And if anyone else wants to see the clip, or just boobie shots in general, feel free to let me know.

Also, sorry for the triple post, I’m not normally so chatty, but this is a boobie emergency.

  12. Caroline says:

Max von Sidaow…Sidaow… oh!! Sydow! *lol* Get a Scandinavian (or German for that matter) to help you pronounce it please! :D

  13. Eric says:

There is a dvd Dreamscape Special Edition if you can believe it, and it’s out on BluRay ON April 6th. It’s all the Dreamscape one can handle!

  14. Captain Kickstand says:

I really enjoy the show. I haven’t seen Dreamscape, but I did notice that you got a couple of details wrong about Christopher Plummer. First, he’s not dead. Second, not to geek out or anything, but he didn’t play the peace-loving lawyer Klingon in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, he played the old, battle-hungry general with the eyepatch bolted to his skull, the one who turns to have been working all along to undermine the peace process and in the end attacks the Enterprise while quoting Shakespeare. It was a great performance, though.

I second the vote for Ice Pirates. Is that on Netflix streaming?

  15. Awesome looking site!

  16. @Captain Kickstand

Thanks for the corrections. We try to get it right. But sometimes even we are wrong.

Hopefully, The Ice Pirates will come to Netflix streaming soon so we can give the people what they want.

  17. Ben says:

I don’t think it is good enough to make the FilmSack checklist but I feel George Wendt’s blatantly-getting-shot-in-public-and-having-two-dudes-drag-you-away-while-abolutely-no-one-notices death is a common happening in crappy movies.

  18. Maleldil says:

    @Brian

Actually, Ice Pirates should be on Netflix streaming. I watched it in December on my Xbox 360, so unless they removed it you should be able to find it. Ridiculous movie, btw.

  19. Jason says:

Just watched this one. It’s the first from your list that I thought was filmed and edited, let’s say the best of them all. The acting seemed scaled up quite a bit compared to the others. There were all the 80s trappings (fashion, plot points, score) but taking that in stride I think the movie could be watched and enjoyed, not just torn apart. And here’s my futile attempt to defend Quaid’s psychic abilities: Dovotney (Van Sydow) did say how he had left a somewhat similar trial a decade before… perhaps he only fostered the abilities he had for making money and scoring the chicks? And think of all the palmists, crystal gazers and fortune tellers… they’re “precognates” yet we call them pyschic. I agree with the plotholes but reading the future, if not a beginning skill of the psychic, is a skill we’ve attributed to them in our society/culture.

Here’s an offside question: am I the only one who thought James Woods starred in this? I swear I have childhood memories of Woods fighting the snakeman and killing a guy in his sleep.
