  1. AMAZON FAIL!!! Just a little correction about the soundtrack for Dream A Little Dream. Amazon.com lists the song “Time Runs Wild” as being by Mike Reno. That’s false! It’s by Danny Wilde from his second album “Any Man’s Hunger” (1988) I had that album on cassette. Remember those? Danny Wilde is one half of The Rembrandts famous for the theme song to the show TV show Friends (I’ll Be There For You).

    You guys are awesome.

  2. Meredith Salenger was my crush of the late 80s to early 90s. Have to say, I like the body switch method in this movie compared to the others… they didn’t switch bodies! Coleman and Gena ceased to exist! It wasn’t mentioned that the wounds that Bobby had gotten in life showed up on Coleman in the dreams. Always thought the thing on Bobby’s lip looked like a cockroach-shaped scab. It works better that the two were melded together, Bobby still acted like a teenager after the accident, instead of replacing each other.

I also defend Corey Feldman. Always thought he was the more talented. His best work may have been The Goonies and Stand By Me, but most of his roles were fun (Gremlins, The ‘burbs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). And a fact that wasn’t pointed out: he refused to do another season of The Two Coreys until Haim cleaned himself up.

Favorite Coreys movie: gotta be a toss up of adolescent License to Drive or the more mature, nighttime tele Blown Away. Ironic, they both “star” Haim.

  3. I won’t be letting my son listen to your podcast anymore due to the crudeness of Randy Jordan. Degrading women to something you want to “hit” is not humorous or entertaining.

  4. Scott: sorry dude, but you are 2 years older than Haim, not a year younger!

Joan: lighten up. Your son hears much worse at school.

  5. Joan’s comment makes me think there should be movies made where men and women switch places. Because she obviously doesn’t understand how men are programed. This is not a dis to men, it’s just normal for them to think that way, so lighten up! and yes as Trev says, Your son does hear much worse at school. It’s really not the end of world Joan Just bring him up to respect women, as I am sure, despite what you think of the “Hit that” comment, all of the film Sack guys do. Thanks guys for your entertaining podcast, and please, please, please don’t let the PC police make you ever change it!

  6. I’ve been listening to Film Sack from the start, but this is my first time commenting. I just want to say that you have a very funny, very entertaining show. Even when you’re talking about a movie that I haven’t seen, I don’t feel left out. Good job. :)

And to go off-topic for just a second: Harry Dean Stanton was actually the first death in “Alien”. (Not counting John Hurt, of course.) After the alien bursts out of Hurt and scurries off, they rig up some makeshift motion trackers to go and find it.

While they’re looking, Stanton, Sigourney Weaver, and Yaphet Kotto chase out the cat. They send Stanton to go get the cat so it won’t set off the tracker again, and it is then that he runs into the suddenly full-grown alien.

  7. I was thinking while listening to the podcast this afternoon that FilmSack would benefit from a female co-host. She might bring up some things that are otherwise overlooked, such as:
    - The utter improbability and creepiness of that whole gym song/dance scene.
    - The fact that Lainie is a teenager throughout the film, whereas Coleman is in his late 60′s or so occupying a teenage boy’s body. So when he’s seducing her….umm, ew.

Granted, a female wouldn’t *necessarily* point out these things– after all, look how many women love Twilight– but she might still notice some things that the guys don’t.

Yeah, hearing a guy in his late 30′s (not sure exactly) saying “I would hit that so hard” about a teenage girl is creepy. But bear in mind that Randy originally saw this film as a teenager, and people’s impressions of movies tend to hang around from the first time they saw them. It’s easy to flash back and start speaking about a film according to how you saw it when you were that age. And Scott did call him a dirty old man. ;-)

(Tammy S, a person can understand perfectly well how men are programmed without needing to hear the details of their fantasy lives and who they would sleep with.)

All in all, another great and entertaining episode. None of the above is meant to disparage the podcast in any way– I look forward to it each week, and in some cases (such as this week) make a point to watch the movie so as to understand everything the guys are talking about. Though this week, I definitely found myself on team Jiblit.

  8. You should re-title this episode “The one where someone keeps farting and no one admits it was them.” Seriously, I’m a huge fan of the show and it was addressed once during the show but it kept happening and it was totally distracting. WTH? That said, you guys are awesome. Keep up the great work. I dunno, maybe invest in some beano next time?

  9. I am saving this episode for a plane ride tomorrow but just wanted to share something. You gentlemen have highlighted many of Ray Harryhausen’s films and this Friday TCM is running something of an introspective on the man’s career and showing several of his movies. Just FYI.

  10. OMG, have been out of action with Pneumonia so i have gotten behind with my podcast, didn’t even know you guys were reviewing this and i actually watched Dream a little Dream this past weekend.

Joan: You are likely not to be seeing any of the above comments back to you but in case you do, i would like to say that i have been listening to Randy Jordan on several different podcasts for a few years now and apart from the other men in this podcast i do not know of a single man who has more love and respect for women. I will say i have not actually met Randy but you have to take in more than one comment made in a podcast to judge a person.

Look at it this way, from your comment many people reading this have already judged you as a crusty old lady who had over reacted so something said in jest on a (sorry boys) relatively insignificant (in the scope of the world) podcast. Maybe before you post on a thread in future Joan you will consider the context of the comments made and not be so quick to condemn and judge.

Thanks to the Boys for an entertaining podcast.

  11. You guys have it down pat. Hard to juggle this many voices, but you guys pull it off.

    My movie requests:

    Explorers and Buckaroo Banzai!

    -cheers,

  12. I know this is late. I’m so behind on listening to these. I’m just now listening to this one. I’ve never seen this movie and if I never do, then I won’t be missing much. The only disagreement I have is with something that Scott just said and that is about Tai Chi. Everyone seems to think that Tai Chi is only for exercise but in reality, Tai Chi is a very powerful Martial Art. Tai Chi Chuan means Grand Ultimate Fist and when practiced by a Tai Chi Master, it really is deadly.

  13. I beloved up to you will obtain carried out proper here. The caricature is attractive, your authored material stylish. however, you command get bought an edginess over that you wish be handing over the following. in poor health for sure come more before again since exactly the similar just about a lot continuously inside of case you protect this hike.

  14. Magnificent goods from you, man. I have keep in mind your stuff prior to and you’re just too fantastic. I really like what you’ve obtained right here, certainly like what you are stating and the way in which by which you say it. You are making it enjoyable and you still take care of to stay it sensible. I can not wait to read far more from you. This is actually a tremendous web site.
