  1. Dudicles! This was a great episode about a great movie! But I think you missed an homage when you were talking about them. When Jeff Goldblum’s really weak at one point and walking with a pair of canesticks, he says “Help me, please help me” to Geena Davis. Maybe it was just me but that seemed like a reference to the fly in the spider web in the Vincent Price show.

  2. Great catch, Brian! When Brundlefly threw Geena Davis out of the loft/lab and slammed the sliding door I eerily recalled the basement lab from the original. And Mikko got the other one I noticed, Help me.

I still say the original was my favorite but this one shines because of Goldblum. I like the pace of this one, so fast, so frenetic. I still don’t get the point of Tawny, though. He kicked Geena out because she wouldn’t use the pod, went to find some barfly (pardon the pun) to, I assume, force someone he didn’t care about through the pod, only to bar hop ALL NIGHT LONG and then only have sex with. I don’t get it. I never remembered the second teleportation with the door fusing with the fly. The effects stand up very well except for the end… he is so nimble, climbing walls and doing acrobatics yet when he truly becomes a fly he’s a wobbly monster.

And where are the third set of legs? Insects have six.

There is a website somewhere with a screencap of the medicine cabinet that points out exactly which bit is his penis. Sadly, I can’t find it now.
