As usual, a HUGE thanks to Scott Fletcher, the official announcer of Film Sack Central.
Hey! Why not leave us a nice review on iTunes if you like the show?
Up next episode? Duck, You Sucker.
Okay, you guys need to add WarGames to your list. Dabney Coleman, pre Ferris Bueler Matthew Broderick, pre Breakfast Club Ally Sheedy, pre Nothern Exposure Barry Corbin, a talking computer…even when there’s no speaker, also directed by John Badham. One of my favorite movies of the 80s. It’s one that I always have to watch if I catch it on TV while channel surfing. Just a fun movie regardless of the cheese.
Okay, maybe I should wait to comment until you finish the episode…AFTER you mention WarGames is coming up.
HA I always comment first
that’s totally awesome tho.
I have my Blue Thunder DVD here I think I will watch it before listening to the show this week.
Loved Blue Thunder as a Kid, still love it, its not perfect, its kinda hokey and lame and damn good fun and the chopper is just awesome (Airwolf was just too scifi Brian
)
Roy Scheider is always fantastic …I’d happily watch him knit
Did I really hear Scott say John Badham was know for Blue Thunder and nothing much else?
…Really?
Just a selection from IMDB:
Bird on a Wire (1990)
Stakeout (1987)
Short Circuit (1986)
WarGames (1983)
Blue Thunder (1983)
Dracula (1979)
Saturday Night Fever (1977)
I love them all, but this right up there with Excalibur. Great episode, gentlemen.
Wow, there was surprising unanimous…ness…ity on disliking this movie. But yeah, I’m sorry Blue Thunder, but I’m leaning to agree with the Film Sack crew. I’d have much rather watched an episode of Airwolf than this.
I’m surprised that no one mentioned how funny Malcolm McDowell looked during the final battle with that GIANT pilot’s helmet that he was wearing. That was the funniest part for me.
Hey Scott, Blue Thunder was released 1983, the LA Riots were in 1992. So I don’t think that was the impetus for not identifying the city as L.A.
How could consummate professionals like yourselves not mention that Warren Oates was “Sergeant Hulka” in Stripes.
“Blue Thunder” had Officer Frank Murphy and “Robocop” had Officer James Murphy.
PS: You MUST sack “The Avengers (1998)”
Caroline in the City didn’t have Andy Dick, it was Eric Lutes.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111910/
I think someone just wanted to say Dick a lot.
I missed the Scott Fletcher quote.
I liked Dunaway’s unbridled disdain for this movie. Like him I figured out that I was going to hate it early on, but luckily my internet didn’t crap out so it was finished in one sitting. Also I’m pretty sure that to Scott, every woman who is no longer attractive looks like Skeletor.
The list of upcoming movies sounds great. Maybe with one of them you’d want to do a live viewing with a chat room? It would be fun to have a discussion while we’re all watching the film, though I don’t know how easy that would be to arrange.
Well done on another fine podcast. I’m a Zune subscriber and I had to submit the rss feed in order to download the show. for some reason, the art doesnt show up within the zune software. can you fix this sometime?
let me revise the previous post…
the album art shows up in the software but not on my device. all your other shows show up great on my superior device.
I so look forward to this show every week..this has quickly become my favorite podcast…
I have a super good movie on netflix instant watch that is a great one for you guys! just watched it myself – CHEESE! CHEESE! CHEESE! but fun!
The Swarm
Irwin Allen flick about killer bees….watch it!
I liked the movie, the helicopter stunts (with the exception of the Loop & the fly throw of the giant miniature)were real. A helicopter can do a barrel roll not a loop get your facts straight dickhead! when you have a dead body you don’t go riping off evidence ie the tape. Was I the only one who saw the nude women’s boyfriend? and did you see the dent in the roof of the girlfriends car? Nothing is bulletproof, billet resistant, the helicopter resistant to NATO rounds. The other helicopter used 50. ca’s gun’s they can chop up any thing.
Fuck every one and there dog who hates this movie, I hate BBQ chicken! That sean would have bin funner if there was a old vietnamese guy in their who had a flash back of a helicopter raid on his village with Snider at the stick.
Helicopters use aviation fuel not gasoline, 5 million $ seams cheep for a sate of the then art helicopter, I bet the cost of the movie was more then 5 million.
Air wolf never made sense, jerks.
Gotta love trolls who can’t put a full coherent thought or idea together.
Great podcast guys, although not a fan of Blue Thunder now, back in the day this movie was awesome. I can remember thinking how state of the art the helicopter was, now? Yikes it is pooo.
Look forward to more podcasts.
I’d be lying if I said I liked the two episodes previous to this one. But “The one about Blue Thunder” is the bomb. Maybe the best Film Sack ever. I remember seeing this in he theater. I didn’t bother to watch it before the podcast because why would I put myself through that again? Film Sack did it for me. Thanks guys and a great job.
I should mention I have seen Candy Clark at a few movie memorabilia shows in the late nineties. She was about 50 and very attractive. Gone was the mall(big) hair and reading the Wall Street Journal, New York Times with wire frame reading glasses.
Even though I whine about a few of the episodes, I really look forward to the next Film Sack.
What, no mention of the Blue Thunder TV series? Lame.
That’s probably what Brian saw on TV, as it was on at the same time as Airwolf, and cancelled when Airwolf looked to have more viewers.
Starring Dana Carvey as JAFO. Bubba Smith and Dick Butkus.
And no mention by the ‘sackers.
