  2. Glad you mentioned Cliff Hanger. I didn’t know it was the same director, but I totally thought of that movie with that scene. The tropes had been flipped so much at that point, I thought the blonde lady had a chance to survive.

  3. I am not saying that I think Cosby is innocent, but I don’t understand why he had to spike drinks. Celebrities, rock stars, and professional athletes do not need to trick women into sleeping with them.

We separate Michael Jackson’s scandals with his music. Can we do the same for Cosby’s scandals and his comedy?

    • Please call it what it is– rape. Not a “trick.” And rapists don’t rape because they couldn’t get sex otherwise. At least, that’s not the only reason.

Everybody makes their own individual decisions on these things. I’d already gone back and re-listened to “Himself” as an adult and heard Cosby complaining about the indignity of having a daughter instead of a son, which turned me off him long before the rape allegations came out.

      • Point well taken. I didn’t intend to undermine the seriousness of the matters. He is absolutely accused of rape along with many other charges.

For his comedy career, it does go beyond an individual choice. There is a general societal consensus. Michael Jackson’s songs are still played on the radio. That has been deemed as acceptable. I am asking this a bit rhetorically and as an example, but should Bill Cosby still appear on lists of best TV Dads?

And maybe part of the difference is that Michael Jackson is dead and time has passed, where as Cosby is alive and still facing charges.

      • I can’t say that I am completely shocked at the allegations because I think this kinds of stuff tends to be more prevalent in the film industry than we may wish to admit. The fact that Roman Polanski has never been denounced by Hollywood and in fact is defended or at the least, talked in hushed tones speaks volumes.

As for Michael Jackson, he had better PR and Cosby tended to anger certain folks with his social views.

  4. Randy: The shark in Jaws 2 also brought down a helicopter.

Scott: I thought Thomas Jayne kind of looks a lot like Christopher Lambert but as you know, there can be only one.

  5. That’s funny, because I totally expected that to happen when I saw it in the theatre, because the camera zoomed in on SLJ, when it happened.

After her story, skaarsgard tries to rape her ( since she’s had so much sex, she must not care about consent!), so she kills him.

I confuse Thomas Jane with Aaron Eckhart
Once again, I am on Brian D’s side.
That guy on Seventh Heaven, didn’t he get accused of Pedophilia?

I wasn’t as big of a MacGyver watcher, so for me its A-Team.

I think he’s being overdramatic. We’re not the bottom of the food chain just because of smart sharks.

LL Cool J surviving the shark was in the middle of the ” Black people don’t make it through horror movies” Phase. They started doing a few (horror) where Black rappers made it ( Busta Rhymes H2O) or the black actor was the last to die instead of the first .

  6. My knowledge of talking parrots is based only on TV tropes, but I think the parrot voice would have been more convincing if it said shorter phrases. Something like “Fat butt… Fat butt” instead of “You got a big fat butt”.
