    • The show was great but Brian (the Southern one that did the Geek Food show with you) talks and interrupts Scott way too much. He kind of takes over and just does the “Yeah and Uh huh” all the time when people are talking for no reason, just to make noise I think. There are 4 guys and Scott is the host but all I did was hear him.. Scale him back some and tell Randy to speak more and it will be an all around great show.

  3. Don’t listen to that Wailer guy turn Dunaway up to full blast hes funny as hell… great podcast guys, dont ever stop doing them … E..V..E..R or ill find u!!!

  4. Love film sack! I keep every episode on my ipod. There are many times at work where i will just listen to show after show after show, constantly laughing out loud. The four guys running the show are great. Each with something different to add. Skip Johnson is the ring leader, getting them all together and focused on the task. Bernie Ebert is just a fountain of information, constantly adding obscure information to the show. Brian Dongway is hilarious. He has the best line in film sack history, “Was Mort de Arthur written in all caps?”. im paraphrasing of course. Hal Jordan takes more of an analytical approach to the movie reviews and always has very interesting perspectives. and he has a power ring. how cool is that? keep up the great work boys! I’ll be listening.

  5. Love the show, cannot get enough, listened to every episode. You guys should do George A. Romero’s (1981) “Knightriders” with Ed Harris. I think it’s a perfect fit for the sack. Anywho, thanks for being an entertaining part of my week…looking forward to each new show. Keep up the great work guys.

  6. Loving the show, guys! Keep up the good hustle!

I’d like to make a request that you guys check out the 1995 film CONGO, based on Michael Crichton’s book. The movie is just begging to be dissected and trashed by you folks. Plus you have yet to tackle a movie starring the likes of Tim Curry, Laura Linney, and a cigarette-smoking gorilla. It would be awesome to hear Scott Fletcher speak the line “Stop eating my seasme cake!” with his signature gusto. The movie is directed by Frank Marshall & produced by Kathleen Kennedy, who are mentioned predominantly in the book The Men Who Would Be King (a book that you recommended, Mr. Johnson). CONGO is the perfect movie to take a whupping from you guys and I hope you please please please(!!!) take it into consideration.

    CONGO! See it now!

  7. Great show!! I have a couple suggestions for movies. First for best puke is a movie is zapped!, with Scott Baio. The other is The Last Starfighter, where the theme music is used in parts for every situation in the film. Again great show also big fan of the instance another great show.

  8. hey guys. with Halloween on the horizon , and your fondness of the horror/scary stuff at this time of year… i have the perfect Halloween FilmSack offering for you.

    Trick or Treat from 1986.

Hard rock idol Sammi Curr burns to death in a hotel fire. His biggest fan, Lakeridge High School student and resident metal head Eddie Weinbauer is devastated by the news and turns to local radio DJ “Nuke” for emotional support. After a heated discussion about the deceased rock star, Nuke presents Eddie with a rare demo record, the last ever recorded by Sammi and the only copy in existence. Overwhelmed by Nuke’s generosity, Eddie accepts the gift without hesitation, unaware of it’s dark role in things to come. After constant humiliation and a near drowning at the hands of school bully Tim Hainy and his sports jock friends, Eddie becomes enraged and vows revenge on all those who have wronged him, much to the dismay of love interest, Leslie and best friend, Roger. Alone in his room with feelings of rage and retribution racing through his mind, Eddie places the new record onto his stereo and is shocked to discover that he can communicate with the deceased rock star when it is rotated backwards. Playing upon both Eddie’s loyalty and emotional vulnerability, Sammi instructs the teenager on how to get back at those who have caused him so much pain, instructions that the easily manipulated Eddie carries out, prompting the usual ‘underdog gets his own back’ results. At first it’s all fun and games as Hainy and his cohorts get their just desserts, but when Hainy’s girlfriend is nearly killed by supernatural forces, Eddie realizes that he is nothing more than a pawn in a much more sinister plot and wants out. When Eddie tries to destroy the record, an evil version of Sammi is resurrected (complete with supernatural powers) and goes on a rampage at the high school Halloween dance, turning Eddie’s involvement with the devilish rock star into a spine tingling nightmare not only for the young headbanger, but for his school and hometown as well. Can Eddie stop the demonic Sammi before he sends the entire town straight to hell? One thing’s for sure, the teenagers of Lakeridge High are in for a Halloween they’ll never forget.

Ozzy, Gene Simmons, and Metal… love it!

    check it out on IMDB..
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092112/

    cheers.

  9. Greetings from The Netherlands, where we follow the show on the ipod.
If possible please, (pretty please with a cherry on top…) discuss: Evil Dead, with Bruce *the chin* Campbell. Halloween is coning up and i understand that Scott Johnson would like him as a friend… who would not?
I believe further exeplanation about why the movie should be discussed, speaks for it selfs.
Have a great day or evening or night and all best, Anouk Boelsma

  10. I love this show! Have you guys thought about doing an episode about “Some kind of Wonderful”? That is a good eighties movie with alot of ridiculousness as well.

  11. Just discovered the show recently through my brother, a big fan. I went back and started at the beginning, and just finished with the One About “Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger”. Speaking of Patrick Wayne as an actor, I don’t think you guys have done this, but I would suggest doing “Rustler’s Rhapsody”. It has Patrick Wayne in a small but very significant role that plays to whatever strengths he has an actor (and to his parentage), Tom Berenger, and your favorite screaming police chief from “Runaway”, G.W. Bailey. Also, it has Andy Griffith as a bad guy, and my god is he funny as hell. Anyway, try it out. It’s a wonderful send-up of westerns, and a good example of how to use Patrick Wayne very effectively.

  12. I am surprised you guys haven’t covered Red Dawn yet…
there is a Cracked post on this 5 Reasons ‘Red Dawn’ Is Secretly a Subversive Anti-War Film
I have never seen the movie but I remember the hype surrounding it from an EU perspective which portrayed the US audience as rednecks. Trouble with stereotypes is they are horrible distortions so it would be interesting to get a real US retro-perspective on the movie

  13. As always–love the show and listen to it as soon as it is posted–then have to wait for the next one. You continue to have a great ensemble cast, but I think it would be brilliant to have a “guest” panelist for a Bonus Sack. It would have to be someone quick-witted like the four of you–perhaps Turpster–and another off-the-wall movie like Batman–maybe “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.”

Looking forward to the next episode,

    OtiosePadre

  14. Love the show! And unlike a lot of other podcasts, you can listen to old episodes without feeling you’re hearing old news. Surprised it took so long for an episode on Troll 2 to come out. Hope they do The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and Tank Girl.

  15. Thanks for the show, guys! You do a fantastic job, and I appreciate the hour-long diversion every week.

One quick technical issue: I typically stream each episode from your webpage, and–I’m not sure if I’m the only person who has this issue–sometimes I cannot get an episode to play. The player just stalls out while buffering. (Yeah, before you ask, I’ve let it buffer for over an hour on multiple occassions for multiple episodes.) For instance, I was able to listen to episodes 52, 54, and 55, but episodes 51 and 53 simply won’t play for me despite trying them multiple times a week since they were made available. What the heck?

  16. Well after the fact (and it’s probably already been pointed out to you) but there is a HUGE Star Trek connection in Labyrinth. Gates McFadden – Dr. Crusher (credited as Cheryl McFadden) was the Choreographer for Labyrinth. I just started listening to the show and love it. I’m currently going back and listening to some of the older podcasts. I’d also like to add that Hudson Hawk is one of the greatest movies ever! :)

  17. Loving the podcast, I found it through the Frogpants advertisement on the Movielicious. I feel like I could sit down and have a similar conversation with my group of friends, so it’s great to listen along. I keep finding myself wanting to chime in with some random tidbit about the movies I’m more familiar with, even though I know it’s not live. The movie choices are great, and I look forward to making my way through them all!

  18. Love the show, I listen each week as soon as it’s downloaded. You guys are by far the funniest podcast I’ve ever heard. I have just on curiosity. I’m a little surprised that a show with a focus such as yours hasn’t covered or even mentioned Gozilla. With thirty plus films about the iconic monster I’m sure there is one that would fit your tastes. May I sugest King Kong vs. Godzilla or Godzilla 2000.
    Thank you for your time.

  19. I came across your show a week or so ago, and just wanted to say I love it. You guys are around my age, so it’s fun to listen to you reminisce about movies from the early and mid 80′s (and any movies really). I’m listening to the “Superman II” show now. Good stuff.

I also wanted to put in some requests for movies to talk about. Most of these are biggies and probably on your list already: “Blade Runner”, “Die Hard”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Unbreakable”, maybe some “French Connection”, “2001″, “Jaws”, “Close Encounters”.

Anyway, keep up the great work guys. I look forward to listening. Later.

  20. Actually, as I learn more about the show that is Film Sack, those may be a little too mainstream (and not all streaming on Netflix). Still, it would be fun to hear you guys cover one of those movies too.

  21. Hey guys!

Big fan of the show and its one of the podcasts i look forward to listening to every week even if i havent seen the movies youre reviewing yet.
Actually I will go to my netflix queue and rent the movies you cover each week.
It makes for an even more entertaining podcast when I can follow along with the clips and the discussion.
    So great job all around!
    Anyway
I had question for you all
How did you all come to meet and decide on producing a podcast?
Or was that covered in an earlier episode I might have missed
    And second
Is Scott Fletcher a real person?
I sometimes doubt this as you only hear his voice as a recording
so sometimes I have this feeling its Scott Johnson modulating is voice in pro tools or something
If Scott Fletcher is real i think it would be great to have him as a live reviewer on the show.
    Anyway fellas
    I love the podcast
    love the movies youre reviewing
and i love how much fun this all is
    keep it up

    Walter

  22. Scott, Brian-Brian, Randy

Wow, just finished watching Best Worst Movie per your mention of it in episode #54. If Troll 2 was the Best Worst Movie of all time, then this is the Best Best Documentary of all time. The story, production quality, editing were all fantastic. Brian Dunaway you said you could not stop watching Troll 2, you could not look away. I had the same experience watching Best Worst Movie. The 1 hour and 33 minute running time flew by as I was fascinated by the inside stories of all the cast-members. Thanks for the recommendation! Troll 2, and FilmSack Episode #54 are even better now because of this film.
Keep up the great work and how about “Up The Academy” added to the show queue!

    Bret…

  23. Dear Walter,
If Scott Fletcher wasn’t real, could he leave this self-promotion disguised as an answer to your comment? I think not, sir. Google “Scott Fletcher voice”, visit voice.caraworks.com, or follow him on Twitter @MrScottFletcher

Better yet, don’t do any of those things. Scott Fletcher is best left… a mystery.

  24. I don’t know if you guys would be open to doing a double feature, but if you were, you should do a show with Weird Al Yankovic’s “UHF” and Julie Brown’s “Earth Girls Are Easy” – Battle of the Comic Musician Movies!

  25. I know a movie that I would love to hear you guys talk about! The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. I only saw part of it on the TV, but that movie was terrible; even with John Lithgow.

  26. Hi
recent listener. catching up as I walk the dog. great podcast gents. I am Welsh and in a past podcast you were asking for a Welsh comment to be sent in. As soon as I get a new PC that does not crash on Skype and can record sound I will email a review to you.

I am spreading the good word. what about Big trouble in Little China? i watched it again recently, great film.

    regards
    Neil Morgan

  27. Hey Guys,

This past weekend I accidentally discovered the answer to a question I never knew existed. What if “Alien” and “The Thing” could be mated into one horrific movie? Apparently the answer is a 1985 film called “Creature,” which is available on Netflix streaming. Heavy on bad acting, cliche’, and man vs. guy in monster puppet suit violence this 80′s cheese is certain to put the trope alarm in pain from overuse. Really enjoy the show.

    Best,
    Pete

  28. Hey guys! LOVED the Commando installment. Quick comment.. Scott said he didn’t believe the “Soul Man” trope wouldn’t work today. I DISAGREE! As an African American male, I believe the ABSOLUTE BEST portrayal of a black man EVER by a white actor was Robert Downey Jr. in “Tropic Thunder.” It was so on point for the stereotypes he was depicting. Absolutely perfect. I know a lot of black people (lol..) and NONE were offended by this portrayal. It actually was very well received in the black community and I even know black women who now find him attractive as a result… HILARIOUS!

  29. Hey Guys,
I am a brand new listener and I am instantly hooked. You are fantastic, I listend to eight episodes in the last three days and I look forward to working my way backwards through the older ones. Keep it up, you have immediately become my favorite movie podcast!!

  30. Hey Guys,

Love the show…it keeps me sane while working the night shift. Have some suggestions for you all (everything from IMDB):

    - American Ninja (1985): American soldier, obviously very skilled in martial arts, single-handedly takes on mercenaries in the Philippines.

    - Beastmaster (1982): A sword-and-sorcery fantasy about a young man’s search for revenge. Armed with supernatural powers, the handsome hero and his animal allies wage war against marauding forces.

    - Earth Girls are Easy (1988): A spaceship with three furry aliens lands in a California girl’s swimming pool, so she makes friends with them.

    - Cherry 2000 (1987): When successful businessman Sam Treadwell finds that his android wife, Cherry model 2000 has blown a fuse, he hires sexy renegade tracker E. Johnson to find her exact duplicate.

Look forward to the next show.

  31. I started listening to the show about two months ago and love it. You bring back great memories from some of these movies, most of which I haven’t seen in ten years. I feel like when I listen to your show, it’s accessing all these deep, reptilians memories of movies in my long term memory. You are always entertaining.

Because I love your show, I’m going to pass along two points of criticism in the hope that it will help

    1. Scott Johnson, you are a good host in the sense that you keep the momentum and focus of the show going throughout the episode. You also have interesting things to say. That said, sometimes you tend to talk over the other co-hosts when they have something to say. Not always obviously, but it is something to be mindful of. Your show is powered by four creative minds, so don’t be afraid to just let the other three go longer if they are on a tangent. I just listened to your Johnny Mnemonic episode and loved that you managed to get 90 minutes of conversation out of that turn of a movie. Don’t fear going long on a episode if you all got interesting things to say.

    2. This is not meant to be accusatory, more a helpful hint, but sometimes when I’m listening to episodes, I feel an edge of hostility towards gays that sometimes comes off a little off-putting. I’m not saying that you have to be politically correct, and I’m not saying that you have to work on how you feel about things. It’s not my place to tell you how you should feel in your gut about something. However, I can think of probably a dozen times when something involving or implying homosexuality has been brought up by you or the guys, and I can feel sense of discomfort bordering on disgust in your voice. Now, some of this may be my bias, I live closer to the east coast so I probably have a stereotype about what people in Utah are like. Basically though, I’m a gay man who’s not particularly sensitive about these things, and I can detect it and am a little turned off by it, so there are probably others that can detect it too. In a similar vein, Sandra Bernhart does not deserve the abuse you heap on her:)

Please remember that I’m only pointing this out because I like your show and want to give constructive criticism in good faith. I have a much less popular podcast than yours and I’d be honored if you mercilessly criticized mine.

  32. Hey Guys
Just a quick note to say that I love the show and have listened to every episode, its pretty amazing that you are producing the show for us to listen too every week free of charge.
Im Irish and will soon be moving to the US and knowing that there are people like you over there really makes the thought of immigrating a lot less scary.
As for movies to review, surely the martal arts epic “Best of the Best” would be ideal for film sack, Its got some of the best angry acting ever depicted on screen.

  33. Hey sackers. Love the podcast, of course. I second the guy(s) who said “UHF” and “Earth Girls Are Easy”, but one film in particular I think is right up your alley, in desperate need of a sacking, AND it’s on Netflix streaming:

Enemy Mine (1985): Dennis Quaid teams up with a member of an enemy alien race in order to survive on a hostile planet and ends up raising its child.

  34. I just found this podcast about a month ago, and I love it. I have been going through the older shows and watching the movies for the ones I do not know to well. I like watching these old movies anyway, so it is perfect for me. I would like to see u guys do a show over the movie Frayed. I just found this the other day and thought that it was great. I haven’t had the time to look into it, but it looked like a bunch of no name actors, good camera shots, and in my opinion a GREAT story line. I would really like to know what You guys think. Love the show and keep it up.

  35. I love Film Sack!!! I have a request for “Galaxy of Terror” 1981…it has caves that look like vjayjays, Joanie (from Joanie loves Chachi), a young Freddy Kruger and some dude with a sweet ‘stache ;)

    Keep up the great work!

  36. I first heard about this podcast during Randy’s last episode on The Instance. I wish I knew this podcast had existed way before that because I listen to this podcast more than any others now. I’m constantly listening to the shows over again and can never wait until the following week to see what you guys are gonna sack next. I know you probably get sick of people giving suggestions on films to do because lets face there are tons and tons of horrible movies out there which means this show should last forever, which I hope it does. I personally like it when you make fun of movies from the eighties which is the decade I grew up in, but thats another reason I wont suggest any because I’m biased to that decade. Keep up the great work guys.

  37. Love the show, I have heard just about every one so far. Many of these movies I have not seen … yet but plan too. Since the demise of MST3K there has not been much in the way of fun with these b or c movies. ( How about Escape from New York or Buck Rodgers)
I have a quick question, the last three episodes that I’ve heard you list off a whole bunch of movies while a slick jazz piece is playing in the background. Who is it? It sounds a little like Buddy Rich or maybe Gerald Wilson. Would like to get a copy.
Thanks and keep up the great work!

  38. Hey guys. Love the show. You guys HAVE to do “Hunk”. This is the most horable movie EVER!!! It’s so cheesy I couldn’t help but laugh.

Keep up the good work guys!

    -john

  39. Love the show!
This kept me laughing through some tough times.
    Keep up the great work!

on a side note I just posted a suggestion for a movie. unfortunately I sent this to the wrong section (accidentally posted it on the “Help us pick a Nerdtacular 2011 Film Sack Film!”….which is why you should never e-mail before 6 am) but once I realized it there was no way to remove. so apologies for double posting.

  40. Great show. Congratulations guys. Would love to hear you guys comment on “Johnny Dangerously”…..great Michael Keaton movie…amazing actors and oneliners….and also, “Just One of the Guys”….absolutely 80′s high school movie..

  41. Hey ya’ll are doing a great job with the show. I never miss an episode! You guys deserve some sort of satellite radio deal, for sure. Anyway, I was thinking about how you guys do a Star Trek connection and I noticed another connection recently in Jason X and Predator 2. Bothe featured actors from Stargate: Atlantis. In Jason X, the kid who says “It’s a hockey mask!” plays a control room operator on Atlantis. In Predator 2, the police commissioner or whatever who Danny Glover is always fighting with played a Ja’Nai military commander who always screws over the main characters. Also in Predator 2, I believe the police captain also played Captain Pike in the most recent Star Trek movie (Star Trek connection, yo)

Keep up the awesome shows, because I get ants in my Frogpants when I have no great podcasts to listen to.

  42. Hey guys.
Great stuff. I’ve been listing for a while now and can’t get enough.
I was thinking that you should do a show on Ridley Scott’s second feature “Legend.” I would love to hear all your takes on this movie.
