I had fond memories of this movie. But upon watching it again, I dug it so much more! The writing is so clever and always winking at itself, especially in scenes like Dolly Parton initially dealing with her boss...and then later discovering that everybody, including the women who are about to be her allies, have been gossiping about her sleeping with him and resenting her for it. She sold the hell out of that role.

Violet (Lilly Tomlin's character) is not very sympathetic, and I don't think she was supposed to be. She had good reason to be embittered, but still wasn't a good person. I like that, because it's a nice contrast to the innocence of Doralee and Judy. Somebody has to be the shady mastermind who's also a bit crazy, and she's it.

I loved the fantasy scenes, and have to wonder if they were the predecessor for Ally McBeal and every other show that cuts back and forth between reality and subconscious fears/fantasies/dreams and so on.

You guys....mocked a group of women who were stoned out of their minds for giggling. Really? *sigh*

In all, I'm very glad you did this movie. It was a nice change of pace, and made me think about how maybe a lot of our moms liked the film because they'd experienced a bit of Franklin Hart Jr. treatment in their time.

Btw, hot picture of Rachel Dratch:

-"Modern Problems" is pretty flat and Chevy looks tired, bored or depressed, I'd avoid Sacking that one (although Dabney is in it and steals his scenes of course).
-Those weren't dream sequences but "marrywanna"-induced hallucinations, which isn't the way that substance affects one in reality...so I've heard ;-P
-"The Bandit (the love song from 'Smokey and the Bandit')" my nomination for Best Sack Song

So, I have been listening now for about 4 months and I have really enjoyed it. I also feel a connection to many of you. I graduated from Radford High School in Hawaii, I lived in Columbia South Carolina for a few years, and currently live in Salt Lake City.

I Think the the 1983 Movie "The Keep" (which is currently streaming on Netflix) is ripe for some TLC from the Sack.

Thanks for the work you all put into the show... It shows

With the old age makeup comments, the guys were referring to MacLeod's Scottish wife, who he lived with until she died at an old age... not the secretary.
